Nicole Chávez (she/her/ella) is originally from Mount Vernon, New York and graduated from Yale University in May 2019 with a double major in Political Science and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration, focusing on the history of migration in the Americas. During her final summers in college, Nicole worked as a policy intern at WOLA (the Washington Office on Latin America) and, later, as a community organizing intern at Make the Road Connecticut. Through these experiences, she gained insight on citizen security in Central America, and linguistic disparities and education equity in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Before joining CDM, Nicole spent a year at the New Haven Legal Assistance Association working as a paralegal to provide pro bono legal representation for individuals in ICE detention.
