Guestworker visa programs are structurally flawed and they facilitate the abuse and exploitation of migrant workers. Everyday we hear from migrant guestworkers facing wage theft, violence, discrimination, retaliation and human trafficking.
Now, members in Congress are seeking to dramatically expand guestworker visa programs and carve out visa cap exceptions for industries that have an extensive record of worker exploitation without providing the necessary worker guardrails.
At the same time the Trump administration is rescinding crucial and life-saving protections which protected farmworkers against traffic accidents, employer retaliation and human trafficking.
This reckless expansion of these temporary visa programs and the weakening of worker protections will just lead to the abuse of even more workers.
We can’t let this happen.

Carmen, our Deputy Policy Director met with dozens of workers to help them fill out forms to claim their unpaid wages.
Since 2005, Centro de los Derechos del Migrante has fought alongside migrant workers to strengthen worker protections in guestworker programs. And we will continue to fight for every worker’s right to fair compensation, to seek justice and the freedom to leave an abusive workplace.
Will you join CDM and migrant workers in the fight for fairness, freedom and justice?
