Earlier this month, CDM staff held “Know Your Rights” workshops in the states of Hidalgo and San Luis Potosi. Alongside migrant worker women from the Migrant Defense Committee, we reached out to close to 300 workers in five communities. We provided critical rights information and resources to hundreds of farmworkers, many of whom are about to begin their journey to the U.S. through the H-2A agricultural visa program.
During our visit, we focused on reaching potential beneficiaries of the Hernandez Lara v. Las Princesas Corp settlement. Filed by four courageous workers —with the support of North Carolina Justice Center, Legal Aid Justice Center of Virginia, and Kakalec Law— this class action stands to benefit over 300 farmworkers who faced wage theft and labor trafficking while working in the U.S. on H-2A guestworker visas. Ensuring workers who experience abuse at the hands of their employers receive fair compensation — no matter where they are— is essential to helping them get justice.
The trust and relationships we’ve built over 20 years in hundreds of communities across Mexico and the United States allow us to advance this work across borders. And it is your contributions and continued support that make this impact possible. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
