Migrant workers have spent much of 2020 sustaining the world’s food supply chain. In the midst of outbreaks, business and border closures and stay-at-home orders, workers have continued to be recruited abroad to perform essential jobs — picking strawberries in California and oranges in Florida and processing crab in Maryland and crawfish in Louisiana.
Although deemed essential by our governments, these hundreds of thousands of individuals are working through the pandemic without the appropriate PPE, social distancing measures or access to healthcare. Employers threaten to retaliate against workers if they speak out against unsafe working conditions. And the government is not doing enough.
The stakes are higher than ever — we are fighting for migrant justice at a pivotal time in history.
On a Giving Tuesday like no other, your support to CDM will help remove the border to justice for hundreds of thousands of migrant workers. Will you make a donation to CDM?
Our 15 years of organizing, advocacy and legal victories have prepared us for this moment. This year, hundreds of workers have turned to CDM to provide them with critical legal services. We have equipped workers across borders with crucial information to exercise their rights. Thanks to our team, migrant women leaders have spoken directly with congressional offices to demand strengthened protections during the pandemic.
But the fight isn’t over — we need you more than ever. Will you join CDM and migrant workers in advancing justice? Click here to make a donation!
