“This year, we supported Maritza Perez and Adarely Hernandez in filing the first-ever complaint against the US government under the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, alleging systemic sex discrimination in the H-2 programs. Our historic filing would not have been possible without migrant women, allies and supporters across borders. It marked a critical step towards advancing justice with migrant worker women. I’m so grateful to Maritza and Adarely for being at the forefront of this campaign!”

“Your support of migrant justice has made it possible for migrant workers to use their voices and demand policies that reflect and uplift their experiences! Just last week, we coordinated a listening session where migrant worker women leaders directly delivered recommendations to advance gender equity in the H-2 temporary work visa programs to over 40 top US Federal Agency officials. “Through our Bansefi transfer program, we made sure more than 1,000 former H-2A and H-2B workers received nearly one million dollars in settlement funds. In many cases, this money represented wages that workers earned years ago, but employers refused to pay. These funds will be life changing for workers and their communities.Thank you for helping us get workers what they were owed! ”

“Over the past year, our outreach team has reached more than 13,000 people in person—using our Covid-safe protocols—equipping workers and their families with critical information about how to exercise their rights and protect themselves in the workplace. We also celebrated a national meeting with our Migrant Defense Committee, welcoming 11 new members! We would not be able to do this work without your generous support. Thank you!”

“I’m so inspired by Maribel and Reyna, two former H-2B seafood processing workers. CDM supported them in filing complaints with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and National Labor Relations Board, resulting in a broad Department of Labor investigation of wage theft at the crawfish plant where they worked. In the end, Maribel, Reyna and dozens of their coworkers received payments for wage violations at the plant. They’ve courageously shared their story throughout this process, compelling other workers to take action and policymakers to improve working conditions. I’m grateful for Maribel and Reyna’s power – and for our supporters for making this work possible!”
